Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Lock Safe Storage Ltd respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
This website is run by Lock Safe Storage Ltd (company number 16068401), whose registered office and storage facility is at Endon Road, Norton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST6 8NA (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described here. Contact us at [email protected] or on 01782 899069 (office hours).
What we collect
- Bookings and your account – your name, postal address, email address, phone number, account login, the storage unit and plan you choose, and your booking and payment history.
- Identification – proof of identity and address where we need it before giving access to a unit, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.
- Payments – card payments are handled by our payment providers (WooPayments / Stripe). We do not see or store your full card number.
- Site access – your unit number and gate access details, so we can manage access to the facility.
- Enquiries – details you give us through our contact form, by email or by phone.
- Website usage – with your consent, information about how you use the site and whether you arrived from one of our adverts (see our Cookie Policy).
How and why we use it
- To set up and manage your storage agreement, take payments and send invoices, renewal and access information – to perform our contract with you.
- To check identity and keep accounting and tax records – to meet legal obligations.
- To keep our facility, your goods and our website secure – our legitimate interests.
- To respond to enquiries – at your request.
- To understand how our website and adverts perform, and to show our units in Google Shopping – with your consent for cookies.
We will only send marketing emails if you have opted in, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe. We do not make decisions about you using automated processing.
How long we keep your information
Account, booking and payment records are kept for 6 years after your storage agreement ends, to meet tax and legal requirements. Identification documents are kept for the length of your agreement plus 12 months. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted within 2 years. Analytics data is kept by Google for 14 months.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted providers who help us run our business, under contracts that require them to keep it secure and use it only on our instructions:
- our website host and web developer (Studio Alex Ltd), who maintain the site;
- WooPayments and Stripe, to process card payments;
- Google (Analytics, Ads, Tag Manager and Merchant Center), with your consent where cookies are involved;
- our email provider, for booking and account emails;
- our accountant, for financial records.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, property or safety.
International transfers
Some of our providers, such as Google, may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, it is protected by UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum, as required by UK law.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies. Analytics and advertising cookies are only used with your consent. Full details, and the option to change your choices, are in our Cookie Policy.
Keeping your information secure
Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We restrict access to personal information to people who need it, and use reputable providers with appropriate security measures.

You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
